With her father killed and her mother struggling with medical bills, Kayla struggles for control of her life. She meets the alien stranger, who gains control of her life by hacking into her bank account to increase it with huge amounts of stolen money. She had been taking a summer class at the University of Oregon where she met an All-American football player. His giving her earrings that he had purchased from the alien stranger was how Kayla met the alien stranger. Bard, the All-American, tries to help her and is temporarily suspended from the team. When Kayla visits Bard's lawyer and then goes to the police and meets with a Federal agent, she is then used by them to become a spy in order to find out if the alien stranger is a threat to the nation. Kayla's bank account soars into the billions, but she is unable to use it except for passing it onto someone else's bank account. With the money stolen from foreign accounts of drug lords and terrorists, Kayla and those she becomes involved with become targets. She needs both the help of the law and the alien stranger to overcome her predicament...
